I admit to frustration when it comes to this project. And I know that it doesn't help saying it. I just need to vent, as a human being who desires progress.
This wiki, were it properly utilized and edited, can be everything the forum at heavengames is and more. The posts that are so painstakingly and excellently written there can be consolidated into a comprehensive, easy-to-browse database--what's more, as it is much easier to browse for information here, forum goers will never have to link pages to pertinent information, ever again. And any information that's not objective or requires too fine a discussion to be a wiki page--can be put into the forum here, which has exactly the same or better functionality than the heavengames forum. Then we have the advantage of having images, maps, and more mundane information laid out helpfully and neatly in infoboxes for the more visually-oriented readers.
Simply put, wikis, in terms of functionality, are an upgrade over forums in every way.
I understand why the forum-goers are so adamantly against switching over to the wiki (even if they don't say so in these exact words). Some of them have been there for years; some have even been there for over a decade. They have put a significant amount of effort and their lives into the information there. And I get that. I really do. I'm just frustrated that the option is here, but people won't consider it. I'm also frustrated that since Impressions is dead and city builders aren't exactly popular as of this writing, there will be any fresh interest for Impressions or city builders in the foreseeable future.
With considerable help from Sajuuk, I have added some information to this wiki. The journey is far from over. It's time for me to put my editing hat back on and grind this out, and then maybe people will finally see just how useful wikis are.
